In the early 1990's Peter saw the need for a worldwide high performance doublehanded skiff class. He wrote up the design parameters and commissioned Australian Julian Bethwaite to draw up the new class. With a team of worldwide builders, Peter and Julian launched the 49er in 1995 to worldwide acclaim. A year later the ISAF designated the 49er an Olympic Class, where it remains the media highlight of Olympic sailing. |
