With video conferencing, shared screen viewing, and world travel, Gunboat has assembled a worldwide design team unmatched in the industry. Each firm or individual would make a project special, combined into one team, Gunboat designs the extraordinary:

Nigel Irens Design, UK
Nigel is a pioneer of modern multihull design. While his work includes designs from the era of early ocean racing, Nigel’s most impressive work is from recent years with solo-round-the-world record setting designs for Ellen Macarthur (B&Q Castorama 78’ tri) and Francis Joyon (IDEC 105’ tri). Nigel’s ORMA 60 designs dominated that French circuit for 10 years. Nigel is a performance purist who refused all cruising catamaran design business for over 25 years, until approached by Gunboat. In Nigel’s words, “Gunboat offered the first opportunity to design and build a cruising catamaran the way they should be built. Light, high tech, and able to sail well.”

Benoit Cabaret, France
Benoit is perhaps the foremost performance and technical consultant in multihulls. His roster of customers includes the world’s most successful multihull racing campaigns in the last 15 years. Benoit handles all aspects of technical and performance evaluation of Gunboat designs.

Chedal Anglay Design, France
Principal Christophe Chedal Anglay is perhaps one of the most talented industrial desgners at work today. If you have enjoyed one of Petzl’s ingenious headlamps, you have experienced Christophe’s work. Christophe brings a unique view to the entire design process and pushes all parties toward unique and elegant solutions. The exterior lines of the newest generation of Gunboats bear his mark. Clearly Gunboat is enjoying the next generation of its design team. Christophe is a critical team member.

Nauta, Italy
Milan based architects Nauta design all living spaces of Gunboats, and work in concert with the entire design team. Massimo Gino and Mario Pedol lifelong racing sailors, and were originally boatbuilders. Nauta understands the importance of lightweight, and keeping design practical. Nauta deliver warm sumptuous modern interiors.

Torbjorn Linderson, Sweden
Torbjorn is the world’s foremost multihull rig and sailplan designer. He is avid multihuller who has experimented with nearly every rig and sail configuration in the Formula 28 Class. He helped develop the Sea Cart 30 class, and has advised Gunboat since 2000 on their rigs. Put simply, Torbjorn delivers lighter, simpler and more functional rigs that utilize fewer sails. Torbjorn is a regular at Gunboat regattas where his firsthand experience helps to further refine Gunboat’s sailplans.
