Fast, reliable performer. Underneath the subtle curves and graceful sheer lines, the Gunboat 60 is a performance machine built with high-end race boat construction methods and top-of-the-line materials. The all-carbon hulls are built in female molds set in epoxy and post-cured over a Corecell foam core to achieve lightness with maximum strength and durability. Performance and safety go hand in hand with ocean-going structures designed to deliver the most comfortable sailing motion in varying weather and sea conditions. DEFIANCE boasts cruising speeds up to 24 knots powered by a comprehensive set of high-performance Doyle Stratis sails.

Construction

Hull & Deck Construction

DEFIANCE was built at the Gunboat yard in Xiamen, China. and completed commissioning in March of 2014. 

– Full carbon construction in female molds for minimum weight

– Composite sandwich construction, post-cured for maximum strength

– Foam sandwich core construction with carbon fiber skins

– Vacuum-infused with epoxy resin

– Additional reinforcing in highly loaded area longitudinal stringers and ring frames

– Watertight bulkheads to seal compartments, replaceable molded hollow bow ends

– Structural composite hull floors to save weight and add stiffness

– Stern extensions to add waterline performance and increased boarding access (2018)

DEFIANCE is an exhilarating, sailing machine that comfortably reaches brag-worthy cruising speeds. In the absence of wind, the hybrid propulsion system based off of two highly efficient 144V variable speed DC generators, delivers quiet motoring and an impressive range of 500 miles. Centerboard configuration offers minimum draft of 2’7” with board up and maximum draft of 9’2” with board down, an all-access pass to shallow-waters typically off limits for a fully equipped yacht of this size!
