CELEBRATING 2019, with #GunboatTop10

Happy New Year from all of us at Gunboat! We're so appreciative to the Gunboat family and all of our partners for an unforgettable year, and to our readers for joining our journey! Celebrating 2019 and leading up to the new year, we recapped some of the top moments. Tuck into this heavy serving of Gunboating to inspire new adventures and achievements in 2020.
1️⃣0️⃣ The splash of first Gunboat 68, CONDOR. ⛵️💦The launch of CONDOR was a pivotal moment, to say the least! The sailing world was waiting to see what this new era of Gunboat would deliver, and while a series of articles in our news feed helped introduce the project, finally the time came to really let the cat out of the bag. Taking us back to this moment with this launch video and announcement at https://www.gunboat.com/gunboat6801launch/🎥 Guilain Grenier / Gilles Martin-Raget
0️⃣9️⃣ They came, they sailed, they conquered one of the greatest offshore races - the Caribbean 600! 🏆The owners and crew of CHIM CHIM made the long trek from San Diego for an action-packed sailing season in the Caribbean this year. While many Gunboats stick to the enjoyment of fast cruising, hats off to CHIM CHIM for doing plenty of that, and also racing around 11 Caribbean Islands in this 600-mile challenge to win one of the greatest offshore races! "We pushed pretty hard and got the result." (Trophies are extra weight they're happy to carry on board) And it didn't stop there - CHIM CHIM went on ticking the list of major Caribbean events including BVI Spring Regatta and Les Voiles de St Barths. 0️⃣8️⃣ Gunboats in the New York Yacht Club’s 175th Anniversary RegattaThe fast carbon cats intermingled with classics and monohulls in this spectacular scene on Narragansett Bay. Click around the choose-your-own-adventure coverage with contributions from all four Gunboats.https://www.gunboat.com/nyyc175/📸: Billy Black and Susan Toth
0️⃣7️⃣ Double the Gun ⛵️⛵️ The first two Gunboat 68s on show simultaneously at the Cannes Yachting Festival and Newport Boat Show. Referred to as "The Superstar” of the Top 5 boats to see at Cannes & deemed Best New Sailboat at NIBS by the judges of Cruising World, Sailing World, and Yachting magazines. (They said it was boat porn! 😲🤭)(🙌)Missed the shows? View the DASH walkthrough by SailingYachtTV
0️⃣6️⃣ Incredibly beautiful, surreal sailing days - and video footage that looks like CGI but it's real! ✨Gunboat 60 PRANA shared this drone footage from cruising Tuamotus in French Polynesia. Pinch me I'm dreaming. (click image for video)
0️⃣5️⃣ The Gunboat Rendezvous at BVI Spring RegattaSeven Gunboats came together for our 3rd annual Rendevous during @BVISpringRegatta. Racing proved as competitive as ever even in the light winds. The lack of breeze on day two resulted in a lay day, and the fleet set off cruising! 📸/🎥: Roddy Grimes-Graeme
0️⃣4️⃣ "When a Cruising Catamaran becomes a Work of Art” @Multihulls World by @Philippe EchelleThe first guests sailing aboard Gunboat 68 CONDOR joined during sea trials. A protective covering masked the interior and the build team was laser-focused on the final stretch of 1200 checkpoints. Still, the true nature and spirit of CONDOR shone through for Multihulls World journalist Philippe Echelle during "cruising sea trials" in Îles d'Hyères, in this review that captured the heart and soul of our project.📸: Gilles Martin-Raget
0️⃣3️⃣ Introducing Gunboat 6802 DASH! We launched the 2nd Gunboat 68 in 2019, and her fun, adventurous vibe shone through from the start! DASH was optimized for leisure and safe, fun, fast cruising with family and friends. From cruising the Med all the way to the Caribbean, she's clocking miles and destination hopping in style whether its the next stop along the coast or crossing oceans. 📸 courtesy of DASH
0️⃣2️⃣ Beyond the boundaries of most cruising imaginations, Gunboat 66 MOONDOGGIE sailed as far north as arctic Svalbard, country-hopping through Northern Europe - and then sailed on to the Caribbean via the Canary Islands.Heres to more #MoondoggieMondays in 2020, and living the dream vicariously through this series of videos! 🎥: Jon Brown
0️⃣1️⃣ Sailing the Gunboat 68!With that first acceleration under sail, we knew she was fast. From blasting along at over 20 knots to cruising faster than the breeze in light airs, with state-of-the-art sailing equipment and well-appointed, comfortable living spaces. 2019 brought the experience of sailing the Gunboat 68! The launch of the first two 68’s represented the culmination of close to 3 years of work with tens of thousands of hours dedicated to the project. Beyond the revival of the Gunboat brand, we’ve gathered together a wonderful team of dedicated and passionate people and we’re celebrating a growing Gunboat community. Cheers to 2019, and to doing it all over again in 2020! 🥂 🎥 Guilain Grenier / Gilles Martin-Raget (click images below for the videos)
Warm Wishes and Fair Winds for 2020!
